Patliputra, a city of ancient India founded by Ajatashatru during Magadha period near Ganges River was a beautiful city of that era. His son Udayin made it the capital of Magadha. The name Patliputra was given after a plant called PATALI. There is also a belief that it was earlier named as Patali-grama which means village of Patali plants, a species of rice. The same city is now known as Patna, the capital of an Indian state Bihar. Chandragupta Maurya and Ashoka were the rulers of this city.
One can still visit and see the ruins of pillared hall and other sites of those era at Patliputra, the modern Patna. Patliputra city was in a shape of Parallelogram and had 64 gates (each gate at every 500 meters). According to history, there were many names of Patna but Patliputra was a very popular name.
The city is full of many historical monuments and heritages with its unique art and architecture.
Patliputra IFF - Patliputra International Film Festival is going to be held Patna, Bihar from the year 2023 aiming towards establishment and development of film culture and its industry in Bihar. As far as commercialization of cinema is concern, it is very much necessary for a place that the entire population is aware about the film industry, the making of cinema and its different departments, the work culture as well as its benefits for the society both culturally and financially.
DBG Film Club, an organization fully dedicated towards the growth and development of state is always trying to do some new and innovative activities among the mass so as to lift up the cultural and educational environment of Bihar especially through film and media projects.
As society's mirror, films could exhibit the culture, customs, traditions, art etc. more efficiently. It is a very good and perfect medium to make aware the people about different social issues and other facts of societies where they live or reside.
